Aurora Suhonen is a dance artist and photographer from Kuopio, Finland
She studied Dance pedagogics in Savonia University of Applied Sciences (2022). She also studied contemporary dance in University of Stavanger in 2021 via exchange program.
She is currently working as a dancer and a dance teacher in different work environments and productions.
As a dancer and an artist Aurora is a curious mover and thinker. She wants to explore the vast world of movement and challenge herself to go outside the comfort zone. She wants to find connections between people through dancing and moving. And to create with emphasis on the movement and authenticity.

Aurora Suhonen is a dance artist and a photographer based in Kuopio, Finland. She studied dance in Savonia University of Applied Sciences and has a bachelor degree in dance pedagogy. (BA 240 ects) During her studies in Savonia UAS, she also studied contemporary dance in University of Stavanger as an exchange student.
She has a comprehensive background in contemporary dance and lately she has been focusing on floorwork, partnering, and acrobatics in her work. She also has experience on street dance, ballet, jazzdance and gymnastics.
Her working methods as a dance artist also include improvisation, contact improvisation, somatic practices and different task based scores. She is interested to explore and combine these methods creating new ways for her to think and move. She likes to play with the movement and tasks and to challenge herself to explore outside the comfort zone both with her body and her mind. She is also interested in dancer’s authenticity in performative contexts. In her work she is trying to recognise the different levels of being and moving, and be conscious of the choices a dancer makes when dancing.
As a teacher and a dancer Aurora is very open and curious. The passion to learn also reflects on her students. She wants to share her knowledge and learn from others. Working and exploring together with others feeds her creativity. Her motivation to constantly evolve and learn drives her forward.
Lately Aurora has also been interested in producing dance films. Her background in photographing is spreading also to dance. Capturing movement and choreographing with editing are a whole new world she is keen on to learn and unravel even more.
